WordPress for Your CMS

I recommend WordPress for your CMS.

As I mentioned in the previous article, there are some CMS’s that are free and circulated through GPL. The three (3) most popular are:

WordPressI use and recommend WordPress for your Content Management System. If you’d like to know why, here are just a few of the main reasons:

Open Source

As I mentioned in the last article WordPress is an Open Source software system licensed under GPL, which means you don’t pay a dime for it. It’s totally free.

Large Community Support

The number of community members who use and develop WordPress software is enormous. If you were to ‘google’ WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal, you’ll see that there are many more resources for WordPress than the others.

Easy-to-Use

Like anything new software, it can sometimes take a while to figure out the small details that really make it special. WordPress is a very user-friendly software system and for those just needing to add and update content, it’s not much different than a basic word processing system.

Updated Regularly

WordPress comes out with regular updates. This is great feature because it always meets web standards so that your site or blog will always be web-compliant. The updates are easy to perform and can be done with literally one click of the mouse.

SEO Optimization

Because of the built-in features in WordPress, search engines love WordPress. The ability to assign categories, ping other sites, use tags, and add SEO plug-ins makes it easier for your site to appear in search engine results like Google, Yahoo, etc.

Themes

There are so many themes for WordPress, I can’t imagine how many are actually available now. Once again, just google ‘WordPress Themes’ and look at the number of hits you’ll get. Themes can give your site the look and feel you’re looking for. If you want to customize your theme, there are many web designers available who are familiar with WordPress and can do that for you. I offer this service as well. In fact, all of the websites I design are based on various themes that I totally customize and most of the time don’t look anything like the original. It gives us a good starting point though.

Plug-Ins

Plug-ins can make your site do almost anything you want it to do. Like the themes available for WordPress, there is no shortage of plug-ins available either. From photo galleries, shopping cart software, calendars, to security. There is a wide variety of plug-ins available for WordPress.

Need more reasons?

If this isn’t enough to explain why WordPress is the best solution for your CMS, I’m sending you back to search for more. Just google “why use wordpress” and you’ll see plenty of reasons to try WordPress.
